Default Thinking about doing a swap into my 88 Chevy Pickup Truck

We've done a lot of appearance mods to the pickup over the years. She now sits around 188k miles and is getting close for an overhaul. It's a 2wd stepside with the 5.7 motor & 5 speed manual trans.

Anyone think it would be worth the conversion? Thinking about picking up one of those LQ4/LQ9 motors and putting the 6 speed in it. What all will I need to do research into besides the electrical stuff (wiring harness, computer stuff, accessories, gauges, etc)? I assume I will have to swap to the newer rear end, axles, & driveshaft? And what about getting the new motor to sit in the spot of the old motor? Have to modify the frame work or ?? that will also help me determine if the t56 trans will fit close or not to the shifter spot in the floorboard. Don't know if it'd be worth it or not cause perhaps when all is said & done I may have been able to buy a higher mileage LSx f-body with the funds I spent on the project.
