Default F Body Oil Pan modifications for A body Install

Does anybody have the dimensions/template for the F body oil pan modifications for the 68-72 A body application? Since I already have the pan, and the LH8 pans don't seem to be a better solution (and they're on national backorder), and the aftermarket ones are quite spendy, I feel like I should just modify what I already have. Thanks.

S&P has drawings on their web site of their modified pan. You might want to just purchase one of theirs for 285$ with your core. Reason I say that is you also have to modify the pickup tube which is included in their price. good luck

I looked all through S & P's site and all I could find were the diagrams for the different pan dimensions, but not the F body pan modifications. When I finally found a picture of the modified pan, it appears to have an additional sump area added to the front of the sump area which would seem to me to potentially conflict with the crossmember, but it could be an illusion without the dimensions. Could you provide a link or something. Thanks.

you really only need to notch the pan about a 1" or 2" at the most.. if you keep it to about 1".. you can leave your pickup tube alone, but will need to modify the inner tray abit. That is if you use the older BRP style mounts.

here is the pan I was going to modify. but had troblems getting it welded. it is next to a CTSV pan that I ended up using. I had shape the cut like a "V"

i know they're different, but in the 'FAQ/Hall of Fame Threads' sticky at the top of this section, there's a write-up on 67-69 camaros that has a schematic of what needs to be done to the f-body pan for those cars - who knows, that may just work for you. or, if you have the time, mock up the engine w/o the pan and take some measurements.

Yes.. doing a Mock up would be the best thing.. but a A-Body doesn't have to worry about the rear steering that the F-body has.. that is why you don't have to notch the pan as much.
