Default CSR thermostat housing question

I put on the strait CSR thermostat housing with a standard GM SBC thermostat. And it's loose in there! Is that normal, Is anyone running theirs like that?

And it rattles when warmed up. Kind of annoying. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Shim stock behind it?

I read somewhere that it's supposed to move in the housing. So I wouldn't worry about shimming it. I have the same housing on my Cobra. Course I can't hear it rattling and it jumps to 180 and stays there..
