Default let the games begin

well i was out looking for some vortec heads this week for an old school 383 project for my 70 Monte Carlo. that came up pretty dry. then i got a lead on some fast burn heads that were at a machine shop getting a valve job and cleaned up. those were $800. not a bad price so i decided that was going to be the way to go. i called a buddy of mine to brag about the find and he told me about an engine that someone he know pulled out of his car that had a rod knock but that was all he knew about it. so i figured it cant hurt to go look. well i got there and it was a LS1 with heads and throttle body no intake no valley cover no front cover and no oil pan. after a few minutes of talking to the guy i gave him my $250 and was loading it up to bring home. this is what its going in.

Rod knock. If you are real lucky maybe it was just cold piston slap on startup.

i just pulled it down and number 6 rod bearing is waisted. the crank dont look to bad but i did not mic it. i want to put a 4.00 stroker crank in it and maybe a turbo or two.
