I have a LS1 with a Comp Cam in a 70 El Camino. It runs really strong (keeps up with my 00 Vette), but at idle, it runs up and down when I first start it, and coming off idle, then back to idle, it will often stall. It has been tuned and re-checked, and has about 5 or 6 hundred miles on it since the tune. My tuner says I should change the gas pedal to slow the rate of the throttle blade opening. I think there is a problem with the blade gap (closed).
Any ideas???

Any codes? Mine was doing crap like that when I had a vacuum leak (home-made EGR blockoff was leaking), and didn't finally throw any lean codes until I left it idling for like 5 minutes.

Id find myself a different tuner. That one obviously doesnt know what he's doing if he thinks your tb is opening too fast.

Don't overlook the basics. Could be a dirty throttle body or gummed up IAC motor, loose MAF, etc.

pull of the IAC and clean it up, along with the TB, I did it to mine and it really helped my idea and off idle issues.
