Default so my brother says ( A/C guys)

that I can run the chevy a/c on the ford lines? I read that you couldnt but he seems to think that as long as you extend the lines it'll run. Only reason im asking is he is a certified mechanic.

I don't understand the issue, the system doesn't care who made the compressor, so as long as the lines fit, you should be OK. A lot of manufacturers used the same compressors. York never made a car, but they sure supplied a hell of a lot of AC compressors for them

I have not done it yet but, I'm planning on adding ac to my mustang as far as the mechanical stuff, lines, evaporator, condenser, compressor they are going to be inter mixed.Basically custom made lines is how you tie the two together. Wiring wise I will probly power the compresor though the ford low pressure switch, chevy high pressure switch then wire in a signal wire to let the computor know it is on.

as long as you can get the ac compressor hooked up to your lines.. and power to the AC unit...

it'll compress that ford freon just as easy

Yep, it will work. It just comes down to the question of efficiency. On a factory system the size of the compressor, condensor, lines, evaporator, etc are all taken into account and sized accordingly. When you change one part, it may not be exactly the same size so instead of getting a 20 degree temp seperation you only get an 18 degree temp. But yes, it will work. I`m running a 2003 escalade compressor with the rest of my 85 system and it cools great.
