A company over in Europe puts in the V12 twin turbo Mercedes motor, so sure if they can make that fit, you can make a LS motor fit.
A Crossfire with a V8 would be great so long as it doesn't screw up the weight. The SC'd V6 in the SRT would run low 13's dead stock.
They make great track cars but so-so road cars. Firm, crappy radio's, plasticky interior and VERY vague steering at high speeds because its reciculating ball.
On the track though they are awesome. The SRT seats are great. I've been in 20 or so Crossfires. I drove an SRT to Florida and back, on the way back non-stop 17 hours and felt great after getting out of it. I've driven a bunch of them at Grattan Raceway, they are very go-cart like at lower speeds but get vague over 110mph.
The only good thing is their value is next to nothing. The super cheap employee leases(119 for a base convertible) means they go for nothing around here in Michigan.
The bad is its a 14 year old chassis...its the 2 gen removed SLK w/ a different body. Zero room for anything unless you have the coupe. When we travelled with one we took a coupe and stuffed it full with just 2 soft side suit cases, anything more wouldn't fit.
Have to see where the trans goes, the stock one is horrible. Plus not sure if you could keep ESP and that.

To quote Jeremy Clarkson(from top gear)
"the bloody car looks like a dog taking a life altering dump"
Not a fan of the styling, but a LS powered one would be so kick ***, especially with a manual. I always felt like the SRT version was a bad compromise since they didn't offer a manual, but a LS3/t-56 combo would fix that.
