LS1/4L60E E30? Has anyone done one yet?
Hey all,
I was curious if anyone has successfully done a Auto LS1 into a E30 chassis yet? I know there are many T-56 ones running around but i would like to do an auto version as it is my DD and it sees heavy traffic.

The only differences are going to be tunnel clearance and transmission mount location.
You may need to modify the tunnel a bit, but that should be pretty straight forward.
Give it a shot and let us know.

For sure, thanks fellas. I was gonna use the lq4 that I have but decided against the extra weight. So I'm looking at picking up a ls1 block a friend will give to me for cheap. I figured it would be simple just wondering if there is anything in particular that might cause an issue and stall progress.

Mines an auto. I ran the 4l60e at first and now running the th400.
I did all the customizing myself on the entire project. I made a custom trans mount from the existing e30 mount that mounts the same spot and same way the e30 trans did. I had to be the hell out of the tranny tunnel to get a good open room to get the trans snugged up in there.
I am still using the stock e30 shifter and linkage. Deffintly a fun project, but never ending for me. I plan on tearing mine apart some and throwing on the T70 turbo and keep the nitrous some and have some fun

I have a bunch of racing with the car against many local cars but dont want to dig them all up. I made one small video of the car on the dyno, and 1 run down the track on a stock stall, and a 100 shot. Still had more in it, but didnt want to over do it right away. Made 7.6-7.7 1/8th miles passes all day long.
Stock stall really killed me, but i guess not to bad for a stock 5.3 and 100 shot untuned....

Did you look into using the smaller Porsche 944 booster? It's about an inch smaller around the entire booster, which SHOULD give enough clearance to run in the stock location. I like the idea of not having to re-route anything.
