yes, i used the multimeter to test it and it shows 11.8 with ign on(not running) and .03 when I press the brake. Im wondering if it has something to do with my trans being a 96. Although I read that from 95 up the 4L60E's use the same wiring.

Ok, so i found some schematics for the trans wiring in 96. One of them says that the TCC solenoind is to get B+ with "key on" and 0 with "eng run"
Another one says that C230 pin H-Lt blu/Blk is "TCC switched power feed"
Im thinking this is where I need to check for the problem since the car was originally an M6 it might not have these and when I rearranged the harness for the swap I did not mess with the trans wiring.
One question though, should I apply the same concept to TCC control solenoid as I did with the brake signal wire? Using the relay?

heres the link in case you want to look for yourself:

It also says that a faulty circuit in the TCC solenoid would cause "TCC innoperative or on all the time". This is where I will look first.

ok so I checked all the wires coming out of the pcm to the trans solenoids. they are all working. Could it be that I dont have a PNP switch? Or maybe its just a bad TCC control solenoind. Which I have no clue where it is BTW.

The TCC control solenoid is inside the transmission pan. You will have to remove the pan to replace it. (and drain the fluid, and refill)..

if you haven't done it recently, WHILE you have the pan off, replace the filter..
easy to do.. wiggle the old one out (may have to help it with a little screwdriver wedge) and slide the new one in..

search on EBAY (4l60e lockup), you can see the solenoid (have to cut/splice some wires),
or the complete harness with solenoid attached.

Well, thanks for all your input fellas. I did not find a solution yet and I wont be chasing it for now. I was able to get my hands on a built 4l60e for free!! and got a 3600 stall TC for $130. So I will be going with that soon. Thanks again guys...

I'm not sure if this helps but, PSI Conversion has the proper brake switch for the conversion for 17.00 Unless I'm missing the scope of this thread, call them.

Is there a way to check it before install? Previous owner of trans pulled it because converter went out and he decided to build another one instead because this one shifted too hard for his liking. Everything worked fine on this one before taking it out.

Can someone dumb this down for me?

When converting a factory harness over to a standalone, if you don't hood up this wire to a brake switch, what happens? Converter never unlocks, or cruise control doesn't work properly? Does it have to be hooked up?

They do have the correct brake switch and it works great in my car. Cheap and very simple to use.

Seems this would be much easier then a relay.

Check it out.

converter never unlocks, leading to damage

Check it out.
My 'older vehicle' is using a brake line pressure switch for brake lights.. so this cool mechanical switch won't work.

I really hate to dig up an old thread, but this one seemed to be the most informative. I swapped an LS1 into my S10 and wired the TCC simply by matching up the circuits to my PCM (2002 Tahoe). Well I was looking through my diagrams and noticed the Tahoe's brake switch is wired Normally Open, and everywhere I read, the TCC needs a signal from a Normally Closed brake switch.
Is this correct? or are my diagrams printed incorrectly?
