Default alternator for carbed motor

I will be running a carbed 4.8 in an 84 cutlass. I will be running a cowl hood so I would like to use the factory alt. bracket. My question is can I use a stock 99+ truck alternator without having a wiring harness? The older style alternators won't mount into the factory bracket. What are others doing for an alternator when going carbed?

I have a EFI 4.8 in my 87 442 with truck accessory drive and it clears....barely. Even the huge truck intake cleared. Im not sure about how tall your carb intake is, but itll probly be too tall for a factory hood, so its good that your scoop will make way for that.

Yep, just wire the brown wire that used to go to your old alt to terminal B (the brown wire) of the new alt. Then hook an ignition +12V wire to the C terminal of the 99+ alt.
