So not to much car stuff really going on. My son was born on the 12th of this month so all my time has been dedicated to him. I did however buy brake lines and a set another set of doors off this guy for 50 dollars before his birth. On the passanger side door the whole bottom is split but the driver was in really good shape overall. I dont have a before picture but I let me body guy take the door and sand blast the whole thing, weld up the small rust spots and fit the door overall, then epoxy prime it. He brought me the door back last night and im amazed by the work he did. I also bought a gallon of expoy primer to do the whole car before winter as I dont know when it will actually be getting painted. More updates to come soon. We will be fitting the fenders for final fitment and fitting the passanger side door, getting all the gaps tight and uniform. Then primer the whole car, and hopefully running all the brake stuff. Heres a couple of pictures..

Thanks man. Mom and son are doing great. I swear every time I pick up the car seat I think my wife is feeding him lead. Hes growing fast and is a pretty big boy.

I worked on the car some over the weekend. My buddy Timmy got a welder and we decided to try to tackle getting the doors right and setting the cheap fenders in place and getting the gaps good. Overall everything went well and the next time he comes over were going to epoxy primer the whole car. There is still some small tweeks to be done, but overall I am satisfied. I think the gaps are good if not better than most cars I see at my weekly car show but please be honest as I want it right and am willing to go back and redo it. :thumbsup:

Well it's very hard to tell from pics, but the driver door looks a little tight at the rear. Passenger door looks perfect at the rear. I would try some different shimming on the driver's side fender. Looks like the budge in the center doesn't match up very well and the gap is a bit wide overall.

Honestly you can mess with these things forever, so just tweak it until you're happy. For what it's worth the body panels on my car were way worse than that and the only person it ever bothered was me.

Also congratulations on your newborn! I had my first son last year. Things really get busy after the first month, so take advantage of this time when he's napping a lot and you can get into the garage. Soon you'll be chasing him around the house and wondering if you'll ever have time in the garage!

I see what your saying an appreciate the help. We messed with these fenders and tweeked them so much to get them where they are. In the picture the driver door does look tight to the quarter. I think the color is playing some affect on that in the pictures. We tried to get the gaps to look equal overall on the car. They are not show quality but seem to be pretty uniform overall. Im going to pull out the ruler and get some measurments on the drivers gap from the door to fender as the buldge your taking about is bothering me some. Might have to pull the welder out and try to add a little material to make it a cleaner gap. Thanks, Steven

Ok so since the birth of my son I relized that the car will be taking somewhat of a back seat for awhile as I get life back in order. I am by no means stoping my project. I have acepted a slower pace is all. With that being said I relized that the car would not be painted any time soon and small surface rust was starting. I talked to Timmy and he said we should just epoxy primer the whole car so it will be protected. So thats what we did this weekend. Overall pretty easy and I know its not really a step forward but its really nice and is a great motivation to see the car in one color, plus is shows any small dents we missed and really shows the gaps pretty well. There is still some small gap work to be done but overall they are pretty close.

After we primed the whole car I looked at him it was around 1:30, the kid was sleeping and I wanted to get as much done as possible. I said you wanna put the fender extensions on and see if we can get the fender wells to fit...he agreed and we tackled that stuff next... onto the pictures.

In other news I bought a set of barely used steering set up(tierods, center link, pitman arm, idle arm), steeing box 12.7 :1 w/ all lines, and steering colum w/ rag joint for 200. I though it was a really good deal and all the stuff has less than 500 miles on it. Ill be getting that stuff today so that will be soon.

Very nice build. It's coming along nicely. Are those cragars steel or aluminum? My brother has 17 inch steel cragars on his 605hp 55 chevy, they are extremely heavy. He threw a set of steelies on there for a weekend and it felt like the car had a 100 shot, it was so much faster. Those wheels really kill the performance. Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks man. They are steel unfortantly. I bought them when I was 16 working part time at a wawa pumping gas..at the time it was all I could afford. They will be replaced with a nice set of 2/3 piece wheels when I can afford them and dont need to buy parts that I need for the build. I have my brothers eagle alloys on the car now as he has my cragars on..so if they feel heavy when I get it on the road I can always put his wheels on...

Got to the car for a few hours this weekend when the boy was sleeping. I bought a oem standard grill, all aluminum trim, lights, turn signals w/ trim and lower valance for 150 which I thought it was a really good deal. It needs to be cleaned up still and im still looking into how I can remove some dents in the trim but the headlight trim and lower trim are in really nice shape. Better than drive quality I would say. I don't ever do any before pictures so I though it would be nice to have some so I can see how much better it looks once restored.

In other news I did a dry fit on the steering stuff I bought. I'm missing some bolts and am still trying to track down the correct sizes/threads ect..if any one has any of this info and would like to share where to get this stuff/correct size I would be thankful. I need the slotted nut that connects the center link to the pitman arm (I think its a 1/2-20 slotted nut) and I need the bolt and nut that connects the rag joint to the steering box (I think its 3/8 bolt about 1.5" in length) Onto the pictures..

Well I pulled the trigger and my wheels have showed up and some on my transmission money is now gone but..well spent if you ask me...onto the carporn..

Now I need tires and to choose which option is better...

1)The front subframe has to be worked and I need new upper and lower control arms...
2)Rebarrel the fronts to 8.5 or 8 so they fit...

Not sure what 4th gen offsets are. I know these are set up more twords like a c6 vette. The rears are 18x12 with 6" backspacing and the front are 18x9.5 with 7" of backspacing.

No budget for an aftermarket front frame..His project is bad penny and mine is no pennys. Ill either change the front shells to smaller or do some work to my frame, get upper and lower arms. For the rear Im going to narrow my rear..around 350 so not to bad. It will all come with time, Im in no rush to get them on. I still have to buy my transmission and get the motor running...

right now your right in the middle of no where, no plan and no money, and you bought something you cant use, without spending a ton of money, I'm not picking on you I trying to show/learn you, because I've been there done that,

reevaluate what your doing make a plan to get it running driving, not a 20 yr project, like I said been there done that,
