LSX Power Steering Pump in a '70' Chevelle
Ok guys. I'm doing a LSX conversion in a 1970 Chevelle and i was wondering what everyone was doing to convert the power steering lines from the newer pump to the older steering box?? The thread size and pitch is different so is everyone just putting AN lines and fittings together to make it work or are they splicing the old line with the new? Or is there a direct fit line out there i can buy...........

There is no prefabbed line that I am aware of.You can make it up out of an fittings and the proper braided line. For me the best and simplest way is to use the ls line, cut the flair and nut off the steering box end. Then cut the nut and flair off the original chevelle line, slide on the nut from the chevelle line then reflair the end with double flair.Works perfect, metric on one end, american on the other.

Steering Line
Your low pressure line is just a oil resistant line on the high pressure side I installed a hose with #6 AN female fittings on both ends and bought the (2) adaptors that is inverted flare on one side and #6 AN male on the other side and it is the same adaptor for the steering pump side with the difference being one side is metric inverted flare and the other side is again a #6 AN male fitting both are available from many parts houses I got mine from Jegs I think they were like $12.00 each and the line I had made locally for about $20.00

p/s line
I had this same issue on my 1964 chevelle (https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...l98-4l70e.html). Not many places in the phone book talk about building P/S lines. A good friend of my in construction told me to contact a hydraulic hose place. there are many of those around. Most of them will make you what ever you want. I brought my old hose and the new pump to them. Also need a length measurement. They had it for me the next day and it was only $27.
Side note- I looked at doing the AN route. I even ordered all the fittings from Summit. The problem is on the pump. You can't get the AN fittings in there. First you need an adapter and then an AN fittings. You can't even get the threads started.
