Default Dakota Digital SGI-8 + Ls3 480 controller + 90 Camaro Tach

Anyone ever wired up a dakatoa digital SGI8 box with an LS3 with the standalone contoller setups?

I can't get the tach to go past 500rpm with the box on any setting on my stock tach.. it just hits the wall there.

Do I need a pullup resistor in this setup?

Why would you need the SGI8 at all? Will the LS3 controller not put out the correct type of signal to run your factory tach?

It puts it out as a 4 cyl signal according to the manual. I need it in an 8 cyl format..

In the old LS controllers you could change a tach value and make it pull out the correct amount based on the tach you were using but I don't have a programmer or know if thats possible with this controller setup so I got the tach box.

I'll try the resistor tricks if I can find some around here

Did a 5k pull up straight off the tach wire and it stays in the same spot and won't go past 500 rpms as I had it with the sgi box. Short of trying an aftermarket tach or a scan tool I don't know at this point..

Maybe the cam sensor is bad or something, I don't get a SES light tho..

Oh well.. theres always next year

Just get someone to reprogram the pcm for an 8cyl tach output. It will be the easiest solution.

Even with the 4cyl mode it should read half and still get past 500rpm.. Flipping the A+C wiring on the cam sensor did nothing but make it start worse. Maybe its the crank sensor

There isn't anyone around here that can do programming or scanning and I sold off my programmers a couple cars back .. I went with a crate engine not to have to fight with programming

Oh well I'll try and find a scanner tool
