Default No Oil Pressure

Alright,

Here is the question.
I have a LQ4 take out motor in my 69 Camaro, Moroso Pan with remote filter. I got it all hooked up and fired it up for the first time today, when I did I let it run for about 4-5 seconds with no oil pressure.

So I shut it off, and looked underneath to see everything was fine, just a little leak from the oil filter. Now my question is if I'm getting oil at the filter, shouldn't I be getting a reading on my gauge?

And if there is a question about my gauge its a brand new mechanical oil pressure gauge from autometer in the back of the manifold where the old stock sender was.

Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
Tom

same thing happened to me. i bought an engine from someone and when they installed the oil pump they stripped the mounting bolts out. i had him install a double roller timing chain and the spacers where letting the oil spray out instead of going into the block. what are the details of the build? when you ahd the pan off did you change the pick up tube o-ring?

It is a takeout 2002 lq4 out of a silverado. I used a new oring with the new pickup from moroso. I'm just confused that I'm getting oil pumped to the remote oil filter but not getting a reading on my gauge?

Get a Oil Pump Pickup Tube Girdle once you get a new Oring.

Are the lines backwards for your remote mount. Ive got my gauge hooked up on the adapter.

My lines could be backwards, what way are your lines hooked up. I didn't have any directions with mine, so I just hooked them up.

Thanks

Did you fill the oil filter with oil before you put it on? If not, the pump will have to fill the filter first before pushing it through the engine, and it may take an extra few seconds to get pressure.

I did not fill the filter, I think tomorrow I'll try and check the remote lines, and also fill the filter with oil. Hopefully I dont have to pull the motor and put the pick up tube girdle on.

Thanks for all your help

The forward line on the pan is from the oil pump it goes to the inlet side of the filter(outer ring) the rear line comes from the center of the filter providing the engine with clean(er) oil. Lol. My milodon unit didnt come with instructions either. Hope this solves your issue.
