Default Provisions for VVT in oil pan

Hey Guys,
Dropping an LY6 in a 69 GTO. Trying to figure out which oil pan to grab.
Current thoughts are an F-body or CTS-V since I don't want to drop 400 plus on a Mast or Holly.

Then I started thinking about the VVT. How does the oil get up to the cam phaser?
Is there a valve of some sorts in VVT oil pans that I need to figure out?

How could I get that into an F-body pan? or is there a pan that has provisions for it?

Thanks guys
Jim

The oil for the phaser isn't from the oilpan persay. The oilvalve you see in the oilpan is a pressurerelief valve. According to Chriss at MAST Motorsports, this does NOT need to beswapped over in the new pan. Merely running a AC Delco PF-48 filter will bleed down any access oil pressure. Yes... the filter was designed that way. The PF48 filter was inpart because I have a newer GMPP 4th gen F-body pan kit.

I was really skepical once I first started researching this topic. After a few calls to MAST and a few PMs, Chris got the lowdown. Might be worth the effort to contact Chris from MAST to see which filter has this function with whatever GM pan you choose.

From what I've read and seen, the phaser oil is fed from one of the cam journals and that journal on the cam has a groove to do this.

There was a great atricle in GM high performance Mag last year on these motors and it included a complete explanation of how the phaser works. They did a cam swap with Comp Cams and got close to 500 hp. There was potiental for more had they CNC'd the heads. I have thought about trying one of these on my next project.

I'm pretty sure the relief valve in the pan is there for the DOD lifters. Even though your motor may not have DOD, they probably just use the same pan so they didn't have to make two different truck pans.

I run a GTO pan on my L92 and it so far has worked great. No problems at all.
