Default RX7 LS1 Swap questions

Why is there such a difference between prices of the lates 80s RX7 with LS1 Swaps and the 93-94 RX7s?

Notice most the late 80s are going from 10 - 13k while the 93-94s are 20-30k

Any reason? Just a newer car with better interior? Do the cars hold up better ect?

Im thinking of buying one and am curious and google is not helping me.

Short answer, FD's are much harder to come by, are lighter, and have a much better chassis/suspension.

They are not lighter, but yes, they have a much better suspension.

The 3rd gen (93-95) chassis themselves sell for about 4-5x the price of the 2nd gen (86-91), and the swap kits/parts for them are substantially more expensive, as they require a complete subframe replacement, whereas the 2nd gen requires only bolt in mounts.

Both suffer from easily breakable interiors, though most would agree the FD interior is nicer (when not damaged). Both have basically the same steering layout and parts, and both use similar rears, that will handle around 450-500 RWHP.

Thanks all, I have been looking at a 88 and it has not sold for a long time so it made me wonder
