3rd gen NOVA LS swap guys. underhood wiring questions
which wires from the factory underhood harness do you keep or reuse for the PCM? obviously the main power wire, that used to power your distributor.
Im not in that stage yet, but i got my front end offf, cleaning things up, and figured id ask, so i can go ahead and get rid of uneeded wiring.

I would not use much.
1) purple for the starter..as originally wired.
2) Original Key / Ign Coil wire to a relay to supply your 12 volt IGN Pink 12+ wires (fused) on the harness and PCM.
3) PCM 12V Battery.. I would use fused circult directly to the battery or power block.
Nothing else is really needed (from the top of my head).
You can do way with your old Voltage Regulator and its wires. Wire alternator 12+ output to your Battery or power junction box (Horn Relay is how your old system is wire, can connect there if you want).
If you have a oil idiot light. you can use the sender and wire in the LS oil sensor location or the bypass plate above the oil filter. (I use both for a idiot light and aftermarket gauge).
Much more, but this is a quick summary.

You can use any thing that come on when the key is in the Run/Start position (must remain on in Run position).
If you have a ballist resistor. Just do alway with it. That way you can use it or something off of the fuse box (ACC) to activate your relay to provide Ign 12volt to the PCM and Harness (Inj, coil, Trans, etc).
But their are many ways of doing power. It is just one way of using your existing wires.
