That run Looked good. Sounds like you need to launch at a high rpm on the two step. It going to be a dog out of the hole until you start spraying it. Just the way that cam is. Still has a lot left in it.

For what its worth, when I put mine on the dyno it made peak power at 27 degrees.. Id say you have a little bit better flowing exhaust than I do so that makes sense. Mine is also at 12.8 - so I see some consistency. Car made 321/312 through a 3600 unlocked loose converter at 5900 rpm.. with your cam you have about another 1000 rpm of useable power to pull that curve up, not to mention a lot more top end. Id imagine even through your converter youre in the neighborhood of 340/350 whp!
have you considered some 799/243 heads to flow with that cam?

The previous run where I went 11.40 I left on the brake as high as the converter would allow, about 4560 RPM according to the datalog. The 11.41 pass I set the 2 step to 4500 so that's about it for the NA set up. If I had the converter tightened up I agree there is more left in it. However before I make any changes I need to see how it works on the spray. We'll see this weekend.

I'd like to upgrade the heads but still deciding what route I'll go long term. If I run into a good deal on some 799/243's I'd pick them up. I've also thought about picking up a 6.0 shortblock and putting ls3 heads on top of it. I'm not sure if it will happen this summer but I'd like to put a single turbo on the car. Because of that I've thought about just sticking to the 5.3 as I know I can go plenty fast on that engine with a good set of heads. If I was keeping it NA/Nitrous I'd probably be looking at the 6.0 more. For now I'll see what the 5.3 can do with the nitrous.

Mine fit without any massaging of the firewall or floor. The engine does sit back pretty far that's about the only tricky thing when dropping the engine in with the trans attached.

The Holley is pretty easy. You have a power/ground to the battery, fuel pump signal wire, 12v switched inside the car, ground to the back of the engine, constant power under the hood, everything else is plugging into sensors. If you use Holley gauges it's a single wire hook up also an output for a tach. I also have inputs for my transbrake, nitrous arm, factory fuel level sender and trans temp.
I was hoping to have nitrous times tonight but the only rain in the last month happened to come today at our track rental. I made one run on motor and was in the burnout box when it started raining and they called it.

It sits about as low as my oil pan. Haven't had any issues yet even pulling into a few steep driveways.
You should be able to run pretty good with that combo. Even with the weight difference you should be making a good 60-70RWHP more than I do to offset that weight.

Took it back out to the track tonight to work through the nitrous set up and get used to the Holley progressive controller. Took about 3 hits in 2nd gear to work through it all. Made a 4th pass off the line but ran the bottle low and 5th run of the night resulted in this.
60 foot is pretty weak but a big part of that is the nitrous trigger is by RPM so I'm launching at 4k and the nitrous triggers at 4200 and the delay really hurts me down low. I tried 150 shot and bumping the 2 step higher but it was even worse as the converter stalls to 4400 on motor so it lugged down before it hit the nitrous trigger at 4600 and then in the top of second the trans flared to nearly 7k. That pass was 9 mins after the 10.58 pass so trans might have been hot or I hurt something. I'll go through everything this weekend and possibly pull the trans. It owes me nothing I couldn't be happier with it.

With the 100 shot just straight out of the hole. Well actually I launch at 4k and it turns on at 4200. I'm going to rewiring the input so it triggers soon as I release the transbrake. I will try the 150 shot the same way and anything beyond that I'll ramp it in.
No problem glad I could help.
