Default 79 camaro t56 shifter location?

I have searched & can not find an exact #, but ne ways..... I'm putting a LS/t56 in my 79 camaro. I know there are a few people that have this swap in an early second gen, not sure if its the same 78-81. Is your shifter close to the factory 4 speed shifter hole? How far away is it? Which engine swap plates did u use, regular or 1 inch set back? Any info would be greatly appreciated.....

regular might put you in your factory 4spd hole, 1" setbacks, will put it at the front half of the auto console hole.... I am finishing up my t56 now.... using an auto console.... fbody transmission, the viper rear will set you in the 4spd hole with very minor modification....

Thanks man, Jason at TDP is getting ready to build me a t56. I was wondering if i should use the f body tail or cobra. The cobra will move it forward a couple inches. Sounds like i could get by with 1" setback & cobra tail or regular and f body tail.
