Lingenfelter box is for adapting a Gen4 58 tooth crank down to a Gen3 computer which can only read a 24 tooth crank.
Times were a bust. This car eats ******* fuel pumps like a fat girl eats cake. Stay tuned.

The cam sensor also reads differently if you're using a single bolt cam and a different type of sprocket.
The box basically is a go between, it reads the higher signals from the gen 4 stuff, dummies it down to a gen 3 equivalent, and then sends the signal to the PCM. Now, if you're running a gen 4 engine and PCM, you wouldn't need it.
It essentially allows anyone with a gen 3 PCM to use gen 4 hardware without changing the harness and computer.

Ok thanks, so its basically between the gen's of the LS and has nothing to do with the actual LT to LS swap then... perfect. I read that the higher tooth count equals higher resolution, so I guess its best to use all the 58 tooth components then if possible.

If you don't have anything yet, just go straight gen 3 and cut out the extra cost. The box costs a hefty $250.
But so far as swapping LT to matching LS, it is unnecessary.
