Default 69 Camaro brakes retrofit(opinions?)

Hey all, I have a 69 F body with 4 manual drums I also have a 95 v6 parts car with all the brakes. I have toyed with the thought of trying to modify the 4th gen fronts to my 69. Since I have all the hardware. I used to have a 99 Z28 and I thought the front brakes looked the same. I know that car had rear disc, I sold it so I can't check. Any opinions on this idea?

It would be better than drums but the 99-02 Camaro brakes are bigger and an easy swap.

You could check with a guy named Tobin who has the site Kore3.com

He should have all the answers you need to figure out if you can do it or not. If you are on Pro-touring.com his screen name there is Apogee.

You're not limited to 18s, you could go 19, 20 etc.

I'm upgrading my brakes (drum) on my 68 nova and I am leaning heavily towards wilwood as I can get good stopping ability and still keep the 15" rally rims I have planned. Look on there site if you are going this way.. they have a 11-12" rotor with 4 piston calipers between the 2 kits one of them should work with smaller wheels. Additionally you same a bunch of weight of f the front of your car. I think its like 35 lbs saved! due to the use of aluminum. Only thing that is stopping me is the price.

Thanks that is probably, what I am looking to go with. There are some some guys who took corvette brakes and machined the drum hubs on on here then used the vette booster and master cylinder that was my thought with the 95 camaro brakes but just do the front disc. But that is prabably a lot of work for marginal performance.

i used corvette front brakes on my 69 nova(same as your camaro) so you could do that all you need is c5/c6 calipers(or ls1 camaro calipers) the brackets and c4 heavy duty 13'' rotors and a c3 master if you want non power. the hub will need to be machined down to fit the rotor and fitted with longer studs and an adapter bracket is needed( i got mine from speed tech) and hoses(kore3). i have 17'' wheels on my car and the setup is much cheaper than some aftermarket kits. for rear i am using ford explorer 11'' brakes on a ford 8.8 diff. picture is old and incomplete but gives idea if you would like better picture i have finished brakes and will post one

Nice this was my origal plan. I really like the setup actually just wanted to keep the 15" rally wheels for my car to keep it really old school looking.

This site has been around for a long time and has alot of information about the nice mode you did! http://www.pozziracing.com/12_corvet...es_on_fgen.htm
