Clean looking swap. A lot of attention to detail.

Ah but id be just another poor tradie if i was to move anywhere else and probably could not afford to do anything like this
plus i like living in one of the most isolated city in the world, closest capital city takes more then 26 hours to drive to, 16 hrs just to leave the state

You are doing the exact same thing I am doing on the transmission cooler. Did you run 45 degree AN fittings off the transmission?

cheers

duramax would be cool but at the time i thought using a engine that is used in australian cars would be cheaper and easier to find
plus easier to get adapter parts
and being able to go down to any auto shop on the weekend that will have most parts on the shelf is handy. starter motors ect.

may do a duramax later on down the track but definitely start with a nicer patrol body. this thing now needs some serious tlc

yeah 45 degree AN fittings off the transmission, only place i could find room for the cooler it also happen to be the safest and best place to put it

"yeah 45 degree AN fittings off the transmission"

Good as those are the fittings I thought would work the best on mine.

Looks good man. My brother has a cammed & forged LQ9 in a GQ shorty. Certainly goes hard.

finished just needs a tune, engineering and over the pits
the exhaust goes in to a single 3 inch with a standard ve ss cat with a muffler and resonator it is not to loud bit of a v8 rumble but i still wanted it more quiet not to sure what eles i could do to kill some of the droning when doing 100km, i have also put in some 10mm sound heat shield and striped and scrubbed down the inside it was gross

"what eles i could do to kill some of the droning when doing 100km"

A Hemholtz resonator might be what you are looking for. It will kill the exhaust drone at a certain rpm range. Seeing as you are running a single exhaust you would only need one.

Julian,
I am doing a ls1 and 4l80 into gu. Having some trouble with the position of the transfer. Mine was - zd30 so I didn't have to cut mounts off, but this meant that the transfer mount holes were about 80-90mm. The motor needed to come forward or it would mean getting tail shafts modded. I wonder what the length of the 6l80 e is in comp to the 4l80?
I have cut the mounts and moved forward and tacked into place, but bit worried it is too far and will stuff clearance to other things.
Did you have any dramas like that?

Actually I believe the 6L80 is actually a little shorter than the 4L80. However the 6L80 has a lot of gearth.

well after a long time of playing around with the 6L80 transmission TCM and ECM tune i may have finally got it working correctly, i will be testing it this week so fingers crossed

also took it for its first big trip the other weekend and apart from the tune at the time she goes grate i end up using around 16LTR per 100KM highway driving (around town its a lot more prob just over 20LTR per 100KM) and off road on the rocks and beach and soft sandy tracks it went really well surprisingly that auto behind it really makes a huge difference especially in the soft stuff
