Default 5.3 swap

So i have a buick skylark with a buick 455 in it with a 4 speed. My best run is 11.94 @ 112. I was thinking of a new motor and i can get a free 5.3. Will i get 11 or 12 out of a 5.3? How much will it cost to dow the swap?

I can see a solid 11 second pass with good intake and ported heads. I never had mine to the track before it broke and i never dynoed it, but ls1s with my cam were making about 405rwhp with same mods. I assume a 5.3l would be 375-385rwhp with stock heads. Plus i had 9.5:1 compression opposed to an ls1 with what 10:1 or so? I had a tsp 233/239 .598/.605 on a 111 lsa. Even quicker with a trex or ms3 but i didnt feel like buying new valve springs.

Default 5.3l swap

I have a 1968 buick skylark with a 455 and a 4 speed. My best time was 11.94 @ 112. I was thinking of a new motor. I can get a 5.3l for free. Can i get 12 or 11 out of a 5.3? And how much will it cost to do the swap and to make it go that fast. Its a street strip car.

If you can build a turbo kit, do it. Plenty of turbo 5.3s making big power with stock internals. Look for the Turbo Turd Fairmont. Last I saw it was going high 9s.
