Square cut gear, cup car trans. I'm sure your stock trans will be fine until you add a turbo or two

Also, you don't use the clutch on upshifts, only downshifts.

A "dog box" is what I would be living in after buying a GT3 cup transmission... thats probably why they call it that.

Michael,

Are there any sound clips/youtube of that exhaust setup you have pictured? Do you know what P/n magnaflow those are?
I copied your camaro cats (form of flattery... right) do you plan on wrapping them or doing heat shields? I was reading on here one of the drag turbo guys just wrapped his tubes and painted them with the black grill paint.

You ever given any real consideration to a turbo setup?.. im thinking maybe down the road.. i want to make sure this engine and install is legit before going there.
Does yours feel like the rear end would snap out with your ls3. With the cost of the kit and all the swap stuff.. i wanted to start with a cheap 5.3 then see if i go turbo or move to something na with more displacement.
I definitely want to drive daily.. so im really not looking for crazy downshifts or anything like that.

My exhaust should be coming together in the next couple weeks, waiting on parts, I'm not using the Camaro cats, they were just temporary to get it drivable. Don't know of any sound clips, I've been talking to RH and getting their opinions. Mufflers, I still haven't made up my mind. I'll make them easy to remove till I'm sure. I'm waiting on these Cats to arrive.

Turbo's, I'm not educated on those YET. There's a lot of power NOW to get used to before I even think of adding more.

Exhaust pieces so far, I still need to buy or make the header flange and O2 pipe. There has been a few Camaro cut offs on E-Bay in the past, but now that I need, one can't be found. I'm going to start without mufflers first just to see how loud it is, then I'll put a clamp flange so I can change to different mufflers in the future.

Request you post a vid or sound clip of your exhaust setup once you have it done. I saw your youtube vids, it doesn't sound too loud in your garage. Does it drone on the highway?

That's not the best way to orient that X-pipe...

^^ I kind of agree - not sure of how efficient that would be since you're forcing cross flow between banks with opposing flow direction. Seems like that would be a pretty big restriction.

Do you have room to rotate that x-pipe 90 degrees relative to where it is now? Maybe move the x-pipe further away from the sump so you have room to get your outlet bends out of there.

That was MY initial impression, but after talking to Renegade, they said it works great and gives it a unique sound. I'm going to try it without mufflers first, then we'll see.

"Works great" meaning that all the exhaust gets from the manifolds to the tailpipes and none of it gets lost.

I'm going to continue to say it's a sub-optimal solution born of packaging extremis and lack of imagination until I see dyno results vs. the conventional orientation.

I don't think it will matter if the orientation is like he has it. You are still going to have two high pressure and two low pressure tubes. The relative area of the junction is the same in either orientation so the difference in the turbulent flow vice laminar flow that would be created near the surface of the pipes on the inside. I'm sure there is a difference but it is probably negligible.

From a flow aspect, is the orientation of the "X" pipe really any different from the one in the photo below??

^true, the x pipe systems are being run on plenty of fast turbo 996's. They sound nice too.

Added some stickers, easily removable when I get tired of them type, still need to lower the front about an inch. Exhaust has SLP loudmouth 2's, could be a little quieter for my taste. still need to fix the water gage cutting off issue and get it tuned, it surges a little at the below 30mph range.
