HELP! Where do I post about a 5.3 swap?
Hello ls1Tech, just made an account and I'm feeling confident about getting the information I need. But anyways, I am currently restoring a 1970 Chevelle and the stock 307 has to go. I'm really looking into doing a 5.3 Vortec swap into my car, but I have a thousand questions, such as will it bolt up to my M22 or will I need to get a new/custom bellhousing? Are there any harness kits? What do I do with the O2 sensors? And so on and so on. So PLEASE. I'm deer caught in the headlights here! Tell me the best place I should post this on, thanks for your help!

Do some searching in this forum. Your swap has been done multiple times and most of your questions have been answered.
Mount adapters/setback plates are readily available for Gen 1 to Gen 3 swaps. What ones you need are for you to decide.
Harness kits are available, but its easy to DIY. lt1swap.com has great wiring information.
The 4 speed is adaptable. Your bellhousing should work if the 168 tooth wheel fits. There is an LS to old trans thread here somewhere.
O2 sensors will depend on local emissions laws. You only really need the front pair to run properly.

This ought to help, my 72 442 5.3/Muncie swap. Same frame, etc as your chevelle.

And everything you'll need to know about a Muncie/T10 to an LS motor.

Major question is what year is the engine? Are you running Drive by Wire or Cable? This will help you move forward with the wiring and controls.
