Personally i find mix matching model year specific stuff tends to irritate me for some reason even though it looks great on cars. I guess im messed up in that sense.
I would also vote for silver bird. JMHO.
for what it's worth, I already messed up that edict - the car has a 78 nose.

Canada corner? Nice angle for a shot, I'll have to remember that :-) The car is entered for the the MFBA open track on May 2/3 . Today is the last day for early bird pricing.

I am just getting into road racing and have found lots of good information.

There are some real hard core road racers with lots of experience.

It's a bit of a pain to join you have to contact the guy that runs the site and ask him to sign you up.

Good luck
Have some fun.

Yeah, that was Paul Tracy coming out of Canada..........corner (ha). The CART days at RA were something special. Standing in the woods at the backstretch during the first two laps when 33 cars came screaming down into turn five was the best 10 seconds in sports...for me. Then the waft of methanol fills the air - intoxicating! Quarter of a million people running around the track.

Here's a pic from last month's Winter Auto Cross event:

Little different take on Turn 5, huh?

It sure is. Last time I was there, I got to watch a guy wad up a fully race prepped Mustang he was test driving (with intention to purchase). He'd lined up directly behind me in the pits, and by turn three on our warm up lap, I was pointing him by because he was on my rear bumper. 20 seconds later, he spent 20K. Too bad I didn't have the Go Pro in my Grand Prix. That would have been a good instructional video.

Here are some shots from last year. I'll get some newer ones once it gets back from getting painted.

Awesome car man, I"m working on a 81 bird as well, ls1 swapped, vic jr, holley 750, and trex cam, Ridetech front suspension, with dse rear leafs and ridetech shocks. Whats killing me right now is trying to find a way to make the scoop to work and fit under the hood. I need to find the lower base of the scoop/air cleaner to see if it works with the vic jr.

No dyno numbers yet, but I plan on getting some as soon as it warms up and I get the EFI on the car. With the old engine (estimated 330 at the wheels), my friend John clocked several 1:13 laps at Joliet Autobahn North Circuit last spring, with me riding shotgun. To put that in perspective, the SCCA AS records for that track appear to be hanging around the 1:13 to 1:14 area.

With the new engine, there is no way in hell this car would qualify for AS or NASA AI (HP:WEIGHT ratio is around 1:6.5 to 1:7) and NASA AIX is a RICH man's field, so the TA is pretty much going to be a track day exercise machine.

One thing that would be intriguing is if SCCA expanded their new Classic American Muscle class to something more than Auto-X, like TT.

This is where all the fun is!

Here's my stock LS2 with CAI & 2" headers through a 4L65e and my old 9bolt 3.27. I asked for a zero knock retard tune. Nothing special, yet... Tuner commented on the curve not dropping off at the end.

In NASA SE and MA, there is an Outlaw Vintage class for cars like ours. They run with the AI, AIX group but usually start in the back of the field. But yeah it would be nice to extend the CAM provision to NASA/SCCA. I'm trying to fit into TT2, I'll know how much more weight I have to put in the car after I get my pre season dyno sheet. before the LS6 swap I was at 420hp at 3130lbs with an LS1 short block. that's with fuel and me in the car. At Daytona I was running with the TT2 cars no problem, but I classed myself as TTU because I had no paperwork.

Wow, that's pretty good. You definitely had an upward trajectory at the big end of the scale. What does your car redline at?

I'll have to look for something like that in Midwest. I'm *guessing* the car will be around 450 RWHP or so (Stock LS2 short block, Cam: 226 / 234 .600" 110° LSA, ported heads). It's grumpy as hell at idle, but well behaved at highway speeds (during the one trip it's taken so far, from my garage to the painter). I have yet to drive this thing in anger with the current setup.
