Choosing a LSX for a 75 Pontiac Grandville?
Hello guys,
I have been watching the board for a while now trying to learn as much as I can about LS Swaps and I think I'm about ready to start collecting parts. So what motor would be ideal for a 5000lbs Convertible? I'm not interested in going to the track. I want to be able to step down on the gas and FEEL the power.
1) The car will be driven 7-8 months out of the year.
2) during the summer it will be driven 3-4 days a week.
3) I would like to be able to jump in and take weekend trips with the wife also able to drive it from the DC area to Louisville for Nationals.
4) I plan on adding a vintage air system and going with a newer LS transmission.
Thank you
Rodney

Don't neglect the 6.0s either - they could be a LOT easier to find, & noticeably less expensive as well. It's worth remembering that the 6.2s and the 6.0s are separated by a whopping TWELVE cubic inches... (I've done the math, & each liter of displacement equates to approx. 60.5 cubic inches...)

I would get the biggest displacement and the lightest engine you can afford. Both the 6.2L and the 6.0L were available in aluminum block versions. With the aluminum block, you should be able to shave 250-300 (give or take) pounds off the nose of your Grandville. It basically comes down to your budget.
