Well glad to hear the mystery is finally solved , always try to get the vin# of the donor vehicle . That 5.3 is a LM7 your everyday plain Jane workhorse , There were probally more LM7s made than any other version of LS engines . LM7 does not have DOD , AFM , VVT or even Flex fuel. Makes it easy to upgrade later, if you wish to do so. Can you now change the the title of this thread to 2005 5.3 into 75 Camaro

got the 5.3 mounted on the stand and started clearing it off. I talked to bp automotive about the harness but not sure about the tuning, are they pretty good with tuning also? or should I go with somebody else for the tune? the next thing on my agenda is to remove the intake and acc drive then take a look at the internals!

got a non lsx question guys but I really need your help. how do I convert this?
the 1 wire connector was wired to the excitor wire in my car but I have an aftermarket harness, the factory harness in the swap car has the old 2 prong connector, which of the 2 wires do I connect to the white one on the alternator plug?
thanks guys

well the Camaro that I swapped my motor into is gone! now its time to start working on mine again, first thing on the agenda is to tear down the 5.3 and clean it up, paint the block and valve covers, also want to put a car intake on it cause they look 100 times better! after thinking about it I don't think im going to swap a cam or heads, im going stock other than headers and tune.

I started to clean the block today, ended up removing the heads to inspect the pistons, gonna clean em up. went ahead and painted the valve covers and timing chain cover. im going to paint the car red so I thought I would throw some red into the engine. tomorrow im going to clean the heads and maybe order a Vodoo cam? I talked to steve with Lunati and he said based on my build he recommended 212/218 113LSA, coupled with a new set of valve springs, he said I should see about a 35-40 hp gain. $600 for the set but im already here so its really tempting! heres some progress pics, and by the way I still don't know how to change the thread title!

I need some advice on heads, I bought some industrial strength degreaser and cleaner from home depot and put 1 of the heads in it to soak over night. when I came out to check it in the morning the degreaser had eaten away about 1/16" all the way around the head. so now I need a head. what are my options as far as factory heads that will work with my setup? I found a lot of 5.3 heads for sale but the casting numbers are different and im not sure which is better and which is worse. my heads have casting number 862. someone told me that theres only certain heads you want to swap on the 5.3 due to the smaller combustion chamber? please help thanks

The 5.3 heads have a 61cc volume ,all the LS1 heads castings 241,853 and the 806 have 67cc. So starting at 9.5 to 1 in should take you slightly under 9 to 1. Decking the block , gasket thickness and milling head will change this tho. This just a guess , check it with one of the CR ratio formula.
