1967 Tempest 1/8th mile VIDEO Got a chance to run my Tempest out at Eagle Field Runway Drags 1/8th mile races. Its a cool event on an old WWII airstrip in Firebaugh, CA. Flag start, no timing, just heads up with random cars of all types. Very fun event.
Anyway I got to run against a 600hp supercharged Saleen Mustang with a stroker kit. A 2011 SS Camaro tuned by All Out Performance, and a GTO with Cam/Exhaust/intake/Tune (also by AOP) that claimed to have about 403whp on Nate's dyno in Fresno which I hear is the heartbreaker dyno.
My car held its own very well, took down the GTO and SS, Lost by a nose to the Saleen. The track out there is asphalt and trying to hook up with my drag radials was a challenge, but overall really fun day. Got smoked by a couple big tire cars, I think I would have done much better with slicks, going to look into that. You can hear me let off on a couple vids then get back into it because the car was getting loose.
The first picture is of the GTO and SS I beat. We thought two LS1 powered ponchos with very similar mods would be a good matchup. That guy in the yellow GTO can drive the **** out that 6speed (stage 3 clutch he said). Also ran a old 30's hot rod. Got smoked by a big tire Ranchero too lol. Really Fun day. If you live in Nor Cal you should definitely come out in May eaglefielddrags.com
