Default 4L65e transmission with ls1 pcm need help

Hi I'm new to the LS1 swap thing and am a little confused. This is probably a question that has been answered before but I can't seem to find an answer so excuse me if it's a dumb question.

I have a 5.3 engine(2007 blue/green connector) and a 4L65e trans(2006 GTO). I have heard you need a tcm to control the 4L65e. I bought a tcm and can't figure out how to hook it up. How does it tie into the wiring harness? The engine is a 24x reluctor if that helps. Can I run this transmission with this engine? Any help appreciated.

If the harness matches the PCM with same color connectors you do not need a TCM. There should be a large multi pin gray connector that plugs into the trans.

Yes, you can use this transmission with that engine and PCM.

The blue/green should be the 03-06 style PCM (GMT800). The TCM (T42) is used with an E40 PCM like in a 05-06 GTO and some others like TBSS. Are you using DBW? If so do you have the pedal and TAC module. If you need this I have a setup I am no longer using and am willing to sell. If the engine was mated to a 4L60E you are good to go. If it was mated to a 4L80E the pinout is incorrect and the programing is different. I have the pinout diagram if you need it.

Hey guys, I am running into the same issue. Here is my deal and I am sorry for the high jack but I think my questions may help.

I have a 6.0 DBW and 4l65e out of an 05 H2. I removed the entire harness and DBW converted to DBC.

I purchased a Painless complete wire harness for DBC and 4l60e, and a DBC computer.

The 4L65e was never in a DBC vehicle. My harness has the round connector that will plug into the 4l65e, however it does not have the plug for the gear selector module on the driver side of the trans.

Is that necessary to have? Can I just leave it alone? Will the computer control it the same as a 4l60e?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have 12 days till a big trip to Moab Utah and I have gotta get it running.

Josh

Just bypass the gear indicator or remove and discard it. You won't need it.
