Can you reuse a new head gasket if it never ran? For example if I put the heads on with a new gasket, but then get unsatisfactory compression and need to grind the valves a little more. If I take the head off again, do I have to get a new gasket or can I just use the same one?
The engine remains on the stand through the whole process.

I know a lot of people who re-use gaskets, but they do have a compression ring around the cylinders. Once compressed, they have the chance to not seal up again if reused
