Default ls1 swap temp sensor help!!

i have a 79 Camaro with a carb ls1/t56, i'm wanting to keep my factory gauges and use the factory temp sensor that is in the driver head (motor is a 98 btw) is there anyway to do that? or am i better off just tapping the water pump and running a mechanical gauge? i haven't been able to find a answer regarding this so sorry if its been asked before. thanks in advance

If your LS1 is a 98, it should have a 3 wire connector going to the sensor on the head. the top two are for the PCM and the 3rd is for the gauge. You can splice your '79 water temp wire to that one. You can also drill and tap the water pump so that you can thread the '79 temp sending unit to the pump.

Oh missed the carb part. It's pretty unlikely the resistance range of the LS sender will match your gauge. Best off to use the gauge original sender.
Can use the head boss or drivers side block plug, or tap another location.
