Default Ls pcm question

On my Chevelle LS conversion I am using Dakota Digital gauges and my question is, does anyone know if it is necessary that the PCM get an oil pressure readout? If not, I would like to only use the oil pressure switch that came with the Digital gauges rather than have to use both. If the only problem is that the PCM will give out a problem code, can that be programmed out? Thanks.

No.. The PC?M doesn't need it, the BCM would drive the oil pressure gauge. So use the Dakota sender.

You can put the sender in the stock LS location at the back/top of the block or if not using the plate above the oil filter, you can use that. Tip, I use both, one for the pressure gauge and a second one for a Idiot light.

Thank you for the information Bczee. Trying to get my wiring completed and this is a completely new area for me, not done much auto wiring.
