Anyone swap a newer 5.3 (L83)??

I am doing an LT1 swap into a 71 Buick GS. Crossmember had to be notched, you need a special port to bypass the oil cooler and add in a port for oil pressure. The motor needs to sit as far forward as possible (I used DD sliding mounts), as the mechanical fuel pump for the GDI system sticks out the back of the block.
If you want to run vacuum-assist brakes, you will need a vacuum pump. The LT-series engines are not big on vacuum production. The trucks have an engine-mounted pump, but you can't use it with the DD accessory drive or motor mounts.

I think you may be confusing "X body" with "X frame". The X frame is what GM used from 58-64, and the transmission actually has to fit in between the rails where they come together, so a trans as big as a 6l80 might be tight. The X body was the Nova platform and all that would be in the was would be the floor hump at the most, so I would think you will be alright with an F body, a little finessing with a hammer should be all it should take.

On another note, how do you guys plan on pumping fuel from the tank?

I paid 3k for my 2015 L83/6L80 full pull with less than 5k miles. Not exactly a bargain but A lot less than the 100k mile ls1/4l60 combos are going for

What are you other guys doing for these two things?

I agree man these will be the sought after swaps !! I'm thinking about using an electric vacuum pump with a regulated switch if it gets below 15hg it will turn on until it hits 20hg and turn off automatically. At least that will take care of the brakes. Working in the bracket side of things and figuring out the steering might try to do an electric steering conversion?

Most likely will do the same for vacuum. The steering I'm not sure. Right now I think it will be adding a pump with a remote reservoir. I am researching electric options since I'm not sure if I can get both a/c compressor and ps pump on the motor.
Have you figured out shifting?

That's a avenue I'm going to explore because there are a lot of vans in the pic a part!

The ECM controls the 6L80E, so the the tap up tap down is controlled by the ECM. I'm using a 4L65E, so I have to use a separate transmission control unit.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase the tap up and down conversion from spear tech because I already have the Malibu shifter

The Saturn Vue electric assist motor assembly is what he's talking about. There was a seller on eBay selling a kit that has the wiring harness and the controller to adjust the assist. The thing about this swap is you have to use a manual steering box, and you have to cut up your steering column. The motor installs underneath your dash. I don't think I have enough real estate on my El Camino to accommodate that motor.
