Default Corvette transaxle in Exocet

I am currently building an Exocet. They are a tube chassis 1800# chassis based on Miata suspension but mine is going to be LS2 powered with a turbo. I have a T56 now but am wondering about using the corvette transaxle. Have people been able to shorten the torque tubes? What about my McLeod twin disk. Can I still reuse this? The only problem I see is that the front of the transaxle wll be right even to where I will sit. I am not sure how wide these are but that could potentially be something that will hold me back.
