Default viable locations for LSx computer?

i have a '73 Datsun 240z/2000 LS1-T56 that i just got running and am currently looking for a place to put the ECM. Does the ECM need to be located in the passenger compartment? i tend to think that it would, but i figure there is no harm in asking. if there is another good place to put the ECM i'd love to hear about it.

thanks,

I had to purchase a harness so I got an extended one to put inside the car. But, I have seen them inside the engine compartment.

The factory LS1 cars generally have them covered up inside the engine bay.
I placed mine in my glovebox on my conversion as I dont use that compartment

They need to be in a place where heat buildup isn't a problem, that's why on the Corvettes they hide them under the battery behind the right front wheel. That way when the original Delco battery leaks acid all over the place.....you need a computer also.
