Default how much will i gain?

how much will i gain performance wise ( 1/4 mile times ) on my ls1 lx mustang when i switch from 2.7 rearend gears to 3.27? and 3.55??
will i be able to tell the difference?
the car has a th-400 by the way and a 3500 stall.

little to none. you'll only feel it by "seat of the pants" they call it.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true, gears can really give you a nice ET gain and even MPH gain in some cases, I've had 2 different cars respond favorably to gear swaps. 2.73's are taaaallllll!

It all depends on what you currently have and what you were running as a ET/Speed before.. 3.55:1 would be the best all round gear setup.. my 2 cents

like i said, 2.7 on the car now, and i'm thinking of putting 3.55 in there. i don't want to go higher cause this is a street car and is driven on the highway quite a bit.

I think it will be a noticable difference, like the earlier poster said, to the seat of the pants. It should also make a difference to times, but you may be dissapointed in how much time. A tenth of a second is quite a bit, when you figure you are going near 100mph at the end of the qtr. (Note, I'm not saying it would make a tenth of second difference. I really don't know)
