Default MAP low voltage ....

first i picked up a new sensor ...... then after same problem i hit it with a voltage meter ..... and i am getting 5 volts from 2 of the wires ....

just curious what my problem could be

my map reading with HPT hooked up was stuck at 10 no matter the rpm

any ideas? could the wires in my harness be switched?

Should have a 5v ref. from the PCM into the MAP sensor & a ground from the PCM. Third wire is the signal from the MAP sensor to the PCM & shouldn't be 5v. I would suggest getting a pin out diagram for the PCM & check that the output, ground & input to & from the MAP sensor are going to the correct pin locations. Sounds to me like tha signal wire from the MAP sensor is run to a 5v ref. pin location on the PCM & not the MAP signal location. Maybe the ref. & signal are swapped; could also be a ground issue.

I had this happen to my 5.3 Silverado. I just replaced the sensor with a new one and the problem went away.
