Default Aussie LS1 conversion

Hi Ppl,

After alot of looking at the web, I have decided to try and be the first in Australia to have a registered and "legal" LS1 powered 180sx.

In its former guise, it was a CA18ET that had 213hp at the wheels on 10psi and was setup for circuit work. With the rings worn out, i had the choice of a full on engine rebuild and double the boost and hope it would make a decent power figure! Or after stumbling across the Hinson site and looking at this great site go with an LS1 conversion.

Well i have chosen the later and bought a complete donor vehicle from the auctions for the same price as an engine from the wreckers. Score 1 me.

The plan is to set the car up for drags and street racing as all my mates cars are built for straights. Will run a built auto and nitrous with some bolt-in/on parts to get 10's on street tyres.

Here is a couple of before pics. Will post up pics as I go and will grab some pics of my mates/rivals cars that i will be contending with!

Older cars before a certain year and they have to display a "left hand drive" sticker on the back.

1 car has had a Ls1 fit into a silvia but it is a drift car and not registered.

Yes we are a little. My mate has a Datsun 120y with a Rb20DET with an auto that runs into the high tens. Is now building a 3 litre block with Rb26 head to run 9's.

Another has a Mk1 Ford Escort 2 door that we have put a SR20DET that will have 400-450 hp the treads and we be a handfull. The last has put a 2J from a Supra in a HR holden, he is aiming for 500 hp and runs an auto. Both are nearing completion and haven't as yet let any pics out of there cars

you aussies supposedly have access to the holden pcm's that allow enabling of the lean-cruse option. you need to pull some from the junk yard & sell them to your buds across the pond.

I am from Queensland!

And the sumps too, all our sumps are GTO style!

Began stripping the engine bay to pull the motor and box out. Soo much extra **** makes it very annoying.
