Question Ls1 in a 1997 Chevy 1500

Hi, I have a chevrolet Cheyenne 1500 Std. Cab StepSide pickup with the 5.0l motor. Was wondering what would it run me and what would i need to change out to drop an Ls1 into the truck. Also would this be worth it, if not what motor setup would you suggest (within a non super high budget range ) Any help would be great. Thanks

If you putting it in a truck I would get one of the Vortec truck motors. They are basically a LS1 with a different manifold, lower compression, and an iron block. For your swap the truck intake manifold is superior to the F-body intake as it makes way more low end tourque and it would be cheaper to acquire the truck parts. If possible, I would look to buy a totaled entire truck. This would ensure you have almost everything you could possibly need. Swaps can nickle and dime you to death if your not careful.
