Default 24/58 relucter

not sure even what it means, but which is the best to use-i suspect my engine has the 24 (2004 LQ4?-3500 express van engine) im not sure if i will be using carb or injection yet, but i do see that the msd box for carb requires a 58, since im going thru the motor anyway, and if it has a 24, should i switch it to a 58, if you can even switch them-not sure how they are attached to the crank (after 40 years of messing with gen 1 engines, these things/computers are a whole new ballgame-lol)

The reluctor wheel which is pressed onto to the crank is what the crank sensor uses to determine where in the rotation cycle the crank is. One isn't necessarily "better" than the other, however, the reason GM went to the 58 toothe reluctor wheel was to take better advantage of the larger computing power of the new engine PCM's. You can rent a tool to swap the reluctor wheel, however, if you change the wheel and stay EFI, you'll need a newer style PCM compatitble with the 58 toothe reluctor.
