How far down is the car torn apart? If you have the whole front end off, it is really easy to slide the engine and trans in as a unit. That is what we did. Note that the trans will look like it has more down angle than it will with all the weight back on the front end. 4.5* of down angle with just motor and trans became 2* of downangle after all the parts back on.

I still think you can slide the whole thing in as a unit. Getting that trans in from underneath is not a funny job...

LS1/T56 slides in fine from the top if you have the car on ramps or jackstands--that's how I did mine.

Later I R&R'd the transmission from the bottom to get it rebuilt--never again (at least without a lift). Next time I need trans work, I'm pulling it with the engine through the top.

Funny should mention that Rodder, we are pulling ours for a performance rebuild, and we are pulling the motor/trans together. A LOT less hassle...

It wouldn't be to much more trouble to pull the front clip off... that way you will have a lot more room on mocking up everything.. I wish I had it off. But It will fit.

Just leave your Rear Trans mount tacked only until you have it finally on the ground and all of the weight on it to get your 2-3 drgee of tilt.
