Schwanke Engines 427 L92 in a Dirt Sprint Car
Hello Everyone,
Thought I would post up some pics and an idle clip of our latest sprint car. This has a 427 shortblock with stock L92 heads and it is currently running on Methanol. We have had it running on E-98, but the Methanol makes better power. We are running the car on a stock truck computer with the MAF sensor. We did some testing in SD, but it wasn't enough difference for the driveability at that point. We will probably be doing some CNC heads and more compression, currently only 11:1, next year.
Enjoy

We have been working on this since 2001. We have a class at Nextel Cup Star Dave Blaney's Sharon Speedway in Ohio running 5.3L's on E-98. This will be the 4th season of the class and the guys love them. We are currently working on getting a class of the LS3's put together. This is an experimental car, but we do have the go ahead to do testing at Huset's Speedway, Knoxville, Grand Forks and any IRA show. We would love if every race car had a Gen 3 or 4 in them and let me tell you, it is an uphill battle. We have over 400 of the Gen 3/4 engines in 22 different types of race cars around the country and now over sea.
If you would like to see some L76 engines running, you can go up to Slinger in WI. There are 3 cars running there.
Thanks for the comment

Awesome motor and very cool car. I have spent many nights at slinger, knoxville, etc. we know the prunty's up at slinger very well and the owner of my company used to be an owner of the Fat Fro racing #14aj 410 sprint. I love any kind of racing but the outlaw sprints are something special.
Its a small world.

That's awesome, Mark. I spent many a Saturday night in the pits in Jackson back in the early to mid 90's. Sprint Car racing is the only racing I'll go watch anymore. After being involved with it, everything else is just... dull.
I'd love to see a spec LSX motor class for Sprint Cars. A 427 with stock L92 heads would be killer. A potent, lightweight, and cost effective way to do it.
More videos, please.
