Default Opinions......4L60E or 4L80E?

I am partway through a frame-off resto on my 1975 Chevelle, and decided to go a different way with it. I have a LQ9 6.0L out of an escalade sitting in the corner that i was going to swap into my silverado, but chances are i never will. So i am planning to put it into the Chevelle now. I am just starting to collect the parts for the swap, as i am still finishing the frame. I am probably going to put a little healthier cam in it and maybe a few other little things. Will a 4L60E take the abuse, or should i find a 4L80E? I have a ton of other questions about wiring, computer and fuel system but i figure i will start with the gathering the right parts.

It depends on what you are calling abuse. A good built 4L60E will take quite a bit of beating. Check with a couple of the sponsers to see if they can fix you up.

Stock to stock the 4L80e will hold up much better. but as mentioned a build 4L60e could be fine also. The 60e has a better first gear, and a lower overdrive gear as well as lock up.

I am running a stock 4l80e as I was on a budget and new it would hold up. Then again I have not put any mods on the engine outside of eliminating TQ management and programming.
