Truck pan ground clearance on stock K Fox body swap.
Here is a few pics of the ground clearance my stock 5.3 truck pan provides in my 89 notch stang with a stock k member. Keep in mind the car has 24" tall front tires and a heavy iron block motor plus turbo kit etc up front so its alot heavier then most and sits quite low with the stock 4 cyl springs not to mention the stock K member etc I know most people could run this same set up with no issues at all. anyone remember when the guy with the white notch on 20s said it COULD not be done?

I just took the stock truck mounts cut them up and took stock 4cyl mounts and modified them and basically welded them all together so its a stock truck top half and a stock 4 cyl bottom .

my only concern when i had my truck pan on for mock up was normally the k-member would hit before the pan, but the pan hanging lower is open for a flyin rock or whatever. I even considered welding a sheet of 1/4" thick steel plate down off the k-member to deflect anything like that from happening. ultimately i went with the f-body pan, and even notched the pan over the rack to allow the engine to fit low

No way I would run something with the pan as the lowest point in the car. Eventually every street driven car bottoms out somewhere up front and if the pan is the low point then it will be what hits. These pans are done if the ever catch anything like that - I have seen it first hand. Then you are left sitting on the side of the road...without oil and if you are lucky and caught it soon enough you still have an engine. Not worth it for $200 bucks worth of pan.

truck pan and a QA1 K member didn't work at all. Not only did the pan hang low but it didn't clear the steering rack. swapped to an F body pan and everything worked out mint. mount and clearance wise. The rest of the suspension was a mess due to QA1 geometry being crap! mucho fab work to correct!

Wow, that hangs way too low. Say you do what someone pictured in yellow above, then what? You are assuming that it will deflect everything and protect the pan, which it will not. If the yellow scrapes then as you move forward the pan will scrape. This can be done, but it doesn't mean it should be.

The pan was not oily it was painted black LOL .... The car pulled the tires MANY times and never once smashed the pan.
Now I run a CTS-V pan and it fits much nicer.
