Default Manual temp guage on GEN 3 LS

My wiring harnesses temp sensor is connected but I'm wondering why my guage cluster is not showing temp. Is this do to the sensor send temp to ecm only. How or where can I get temp install a manual or digital temp gauge?

The "Autometer" gauge company will have what you need. You can't tie into the wiring or replace the ECT sender at the driver's front of the engine but you can remove the plug at the passenger side rear corner of the engine. It's an M12 x 1.5 hole with an Allen wrench plug so find an Autometer sender / gauge kit and go with it.

Keep in mind that the factory sensor for the ecu is located where it’s measuring temp after the coolant has picked up just about all the heat it can just before leaving the engine on its way to the radiator. If you use the port on the back of the passenger head for a gauge, it’ll probably read a bit cooler there than the temp the ecu is seeing.

There are 3-wire sensors available.

They're basically just 2 sensors in one, sharing a ground.

Then you wouldn't have to add another sensor and they'd be reading the same temperature.
