Default How do I know what year my motor is?

Exactly what year it is? I know the casting number shows it's an LS1/LS6 and it's out of a vette but I was wanting to know exactly what year it's from.

What numbers are stamped on the heads? It would be located right above the exhaust port all the way at the front of the engine on the driverside. Should be 806, 853, 241, 243 or something. Also what is the block casting number located on the driverside rear of the block?

Should be a VIN laser etched somewhere on the block...
