How high can I rev my car?
I bought my car with the mods in sig and I was just wondering if it's safe to rev it over the stock redline. I don't think there's a limiter since I saw the needle go near 7 once.
Where is the stock limiter and what is the part that holds it back from going higher?
THanks.

If you have a custom tune, it's entirely possible they changed the limiter. I had the limiter changed on my Trans Am when I upgraded the cam and springs.
I believe the stock rev limit on the LS6 is 6600 RPM. The LS7 has a limit of 7000 RPM.

I bumped mine to 6800rpm....I usually shift around the 6600 ~ 6700rpm area. Should be ok as long as you have proper valvetrain geometry and quality valvesprings.

I definitley won't make a habit out of revving it higher, but I just want to make sure it's ok to have it up close to 7 every once in a while. It's my DD so I don't really want any extra stress on the parts I don't need.

With the AFR heads, the dual springs, and the cam it should make power all the into the upper 6000s. I would guess it would start to drop off around 6800 to 6900 RPMs. Best way to tell for sure is to run it on the dyno. A couple of pulls is pretty cheap. Once it is dynoed, you can see where the peak rwhp is at and set the limiter to that.
