Are there two different colors of stock C5 z06 wheels?

I'm thinkin there are darker colored ones, and lighter colored ones. Which years came with which ones?

I'm getting a 99 FRC with wagon wheels, and I'm thinking some of the darker Z06 wheels would look good.

Where is a good place to pick them up (new). Otherwise I'll just keep an eye out for some used ones on here, corvetteforum, and ebay.

They were made by 2 different company's but I believe they were the same color
In 2001 the wheels were made by alcoa, then from 02 to 04 they were made by speedline.
The darker wheels are knock-offs
and as far as buying some, I would just look around the forums and people sell them all the time, that is if you want real ones.

I believe the 01's are darker. I think the forged ones took a different shade when they got their color than the 02's did.

The forged '01 are indeed a little darker, but you wont be able to tell the difference unless you compare them side by side with the cast 02-04. Also the spokes on the 01 are more square on the outside. Again the difference is small enough that you wont notice it unless comparing the two wheels side bty side.

The spokes on the forged 01 wheels are also thinner and it is easily noticable at least for me it is....

brake dust makes them look darker too. trust me i know, cause i dont clean mine enough, most people think they are powder coated a dark gun metal until i reach down and dust them off with my finger, hahaha.

I personally like the 01 wheel better Subtle, but better.
