I used to pull the filter at the track with my Formula. One day it decided to suck up a plastic bag! luckily the sensor wires on the MAF caught it. From then on I always run a filter.

A legend on Tech by the name of John Campbell used to use Pantyhose to cover the inlet. You can do it that way at the track....

Just look at the small rocks and other goodies that are trapped in your radiator/condenser and make the call from there..

Reminds me of the 1mile shootout they do between hennessey, lingenfelter, mti and others. Hennessey ran his viper without a filter or screen and he did set the highest record but ruined a turbo by a rock being sucked into it.

I read that issure too. Not worth the gain from that sick feeling in your stomach and embarrassment when towing her home.

when i ran my girlfriends camaro at the track and yanked the filter it made no difference over the k&n and lid. It was an auto too so there were no variations i just yanked the filter and ran the same 1/4 mile time. the trap speed also went down. i believe it was 13.4 at 105.
